National Childcare Scheme (NCS) / AIMS

Higgys is a registered provider of the National Childcare Scheme.

The National Childcare Scheme (NCS) provides financial support to help with your childcare costs.

There are two types of childcare subsidy for children aged between 24 weeks and 15 years of age:

  • universal subsidy which is not means tested. This is an hourly subsidy rate of €2.14per hour. All children are entitled to this subsidy.
  • An income-assessed subsidy which is means tested

You can apply online for the subsidy here using your MyGovID.
See the Application Guide for assistance on how to apply.

To make a paper application, please contact the NCS Parent Support Centre on 01 906 8530.
The Parent Support Centre will then send you an application form by post.

Once you have applied and received your child’s CHICK code share it with us and we will register your child at Higgys and claim their subsidy on your behalf. The number of hours claimed on your behalf  must match your child’s actual attendance pattern in line with the attendance guidelines of the scheme. The subsidy will appear on your invoice as NCS hours and  the weekly amount deducted from your monthly  fee invoice.

The Access and Inclusion Model

The goal of AIM is to create a more inclusive environment in pre-schools, so all children, regardless of ability, can benefit from quality early learning and care. The model achieves this by providing universal supports to pre-school settings, and targeted supports, which focus on the needs of the individual child, without requiring a diagnosis of disability. https://aim.gov.ie/

AIM commenced in 2016, since then, it has helped tens of thousands of children with a disability to access and meaningfully participate in the ECCE (Early Childhood Care and Education) programme in pre-school settings nationwide. The model has been recognised internationally and has won awards for both excellence in practice, and inclusive policy.

Rachel Lynch ( Assistant Manager) is our qualified  LINC leadership for inclusion Coordinator.
