Higgy's was established in 2005 by Hilary Lantzos with a vision of providing quality early childhood care and education to the children and families of Gorey and its surrounds. Coming from a nursing background, evidence-based best practice was the work model Hilary used in her nursing career and this carried forward into the establishment and ongoing high-quality care and education that is provided in Higgy's.
Hilary recruited a fantastic team of like-minded and driven early childhood professionals who have helped build Higgy's into what it is today, a place where each child is loved, cared for and valued as an individual, and is encouraged to reach their full potential at their own pace.
Our senior staff have been with us since we opened in 2005! The management and staff have created a dynamic environment at Higgy's working together, constantly updating, changing and striving to make Higgy's the best. The reward is smiling happy children leaving every evening and happy to return each morning to find out “What are we going to do today at Higgy's?”
We actively encourage, expect and facilitate the ongoing education of our staff through Continuous Professional Development (CPD). While all staff when hired have a minimum FETAC Level 5, many of our staff have Degrees in Early Childhood Education and Care. Our staff at Higgy's are committed childcare professionals and we are very proud of the changes and improvements that their ongoing education leads to in Higgy's.
